Teach the Controversy- Pwnage Olympics Education 2011 Winner
This is a response to Wendy Wright’s sentiments stated in this video: www.youtube.com That entire interview truly disturbed me. The way that she had Richard Dawkins come in for an interview, and she didn’t even offer him the respect of having them sit down for a structured conversation. The way she just smiled, nodded and ignored every piece of evidence that he presented her with, then continued to spout her pre-canned creationist irrelevant bullshit bugged me too. The way she refused to do any actual research for herself about what evolution even IS, as opposed to Dawkins doing some research to understand her position also was obnoxious. The worst part of all, however, was her insulting claim that teaching creationism in school is a way of helping children think for themselves. That’s the last straw.

@gratex I completely agree, but you must understand that there are no religious classes here in the US, but people like Wendy Wright are wishing to teach religion as truth as a respectable possibility for the origin of life/species in competition with evolution. Such things need to be addressed, and explained.
To Fundamentalist Creationists who think scientists are chicken for not wanting to “teach the controversy” about evolution:
Would you allow teaching the documentary hypothesis, Unitarianism, Islam, or Buddhism in your Sunday school or from you church pulpit?
I didn’t think so.
CASE CLOSED.
STILL a flawless victory!!
There was a good quote that I heard once – I think it was Lawrence Krauss. He said that “education should eliminate ignorance, not pander to it.”
@GrapplingIgnorance First, congrats GI. I don’t think the previous guy got the point. He isn’t aware of the situation here in North America. I think in both Canada and the USA they ruled it unconstitutional to have those “Religious education” classes and also things like the lords prayer and such in public schools. So they can’t teach religion in public schools, so their tactic is to sneak it into the Science classes disguised as “Scientific Fact”.
i think you may hold the record for most likes without a dislike…. im not even joking.
@IncDeathCreed I don’t understand the point of your message.
@themark462 It was Johnny Cage. He got in a cheap crotch punch.
I wonder if this bitch is a contributing factor to why Dawkins does not do much debating with creationists. And, as far as this smiley, blonde, female version of Joel Osteen is concerned, INTELLIGENT dezine my mother-fucking ass!
arrghh… who is the one dick that disliked the vid?!? you did it out of spite didn’t you? no longer flawless victory..
@themark462 It was only a matter of time.
@GrapplingIgnorance Darkmatter is awesome
Would it be okay if we went to Wendy’s church to “teach the controversy” do you think? Think she would have a problem with that?
Good video, but I’d add another example:
Teaching health and medicine. While you can teach the effects of medicine on the human body, you can also teach the controversy that the biblical way of dealing with medicine (having church elders stand over you and pray while you drink wine mixed with water) is also equally effective for warding off disease.
The irony is that even the most devout Christians today would consider this a shitty method for dealing with illness.
One person is a dick.
Wendy Wright made an account
This like to dislike ratio is literally nonexistent.
haahahah teach the controversy…i´ve never heard anything quite as stupid as that sentiment
I want to like this but it has exactly 1000 likes-0 dislikes… oh hell i’ll do it anyway!
@Antifides Are you kidding me?! Her entire interview was her denying evolution and claiming that along side it we should be teaching that humans were intelligently designed by a “loving creator.”
I hate to defend Wendy Wright. Seriously, why must you make me do this? Alright, here it is. She specifically stated that she wanted the, ahem, “problems” with evolution taught. That’s what she told Dawkins she meant by “teach the controversy.” She did not say that we should teach the Biblical story or anything like that. At least, I don’t remember that.
@GrapplingIgnorance I’d have to watch it again, but I remember when Dawkins asked her directly, that’s how she responded.
she has a bigass nose and her eyes are way close together.. dont teach bullshit like creationism.
Wendy Wright disiked this video
@GrapplingIgnorance Are you the Jewish Messiah?
