Community Blood Bank on Friday officially joined Phoenix through the blood system, a network of blood banks throughout California.

When the merger was the reduction of the staff and leadership.

“It is our intention that the Blood Bank of the Commonwealth is part of our operations in California, under the direction of Vicki Finson, located on the Central Coast Blood Services in San Luis Obisbo,” Blood Press Barbara Sistemas Cain said.

Finson, Executive Director, began his career in blood banking for nearly 30 years in the valley, Cain said.

The merger also led to a 20 percent staff reduction. The number of workers affected was not disclosed. Also, do not have the status of James Larson, who was the blood bank as chief executive when the merger was announced.

“I can not speak to specific positions or employees,’ said Cain.

“In this agreement, we promised that it would be more than 80 percent of workers at the community level, blood bank, and we are pleased that we can do”, said Cain.” One of the reasons Community Blood Bank, along with other large scale savings can be achieved. ”

One of the advantages of central services, eliminating duplication of effort and at the same time receive an excellent service in hospitals, we have said.

“I have always returned to the important point is that patients remain in the blood. And the valley is, in fact, living donors for patients in the region, and Blood Bank in the Community is based on strong local support.”

Cain said that the departure of the packets of money to workers who are not affiliated with a network of blood, and the provision of assistance in finding a job.

Larson could not be reached for comment.

Founded in 1943 in Phoenix, the blood of the community nonprofit blood centers provide blood components and special services for patients from more than 500 hospitals in 18 states, according to its Web site.
