Star Wars: The Old Republic (SWTOR) is an upcoming massively multiplayer online role-playing game based in the Star Wars universe. Currently in development by BioWare Austin and a supplemental team at BioWare Edmonton, the game was first announced on October 21, 2008, at an invitation-only press event. So same old WoW-style combat combined with a story that is probably stretched over weeks of tedious combat, saddled with even more tedious side quests? Just a guess but I can’t really be optimistic after having seen actual game footage instead of this nicely presented list of cut scenes.

@omma911 Actually, this is one of the few MMOs doing it right. It isn’t TRYING to compete directly with WoW – TOR fills an entirely different niche in the genre. It’s certainly not going to kill WoW or any garbage like that, but saying it will fail because WoW exists is equally flawed.

@palehawke Fanboy much? There’s been enough “hands on”, gameplay vids, previews, etc. that all say and show the same thing: the game itself is essentially another WoW clone. Can’t accept that? Tough luck, go back to worshipping George Lucas or Bioware, whichever you have a shrine of, and get off my back. If you think gameplay vids don’t give you a good idea of what to expect, you’re kidding yourself.
@redavatar Troll much? If you didn’t like the Vid, I understand. But you have not played the game and yet your making assumptions of how horrid it will be. Thats like deciding to buy a car based on it`s pretty picture without test driving it first.
