Around the Far East and South East Asia…. the AE86 is considered the holy grail of performance motoring…. Two things contribute to this cult status…. Keiichi Tsuchiya (drift king, Le Mans Racer) and the comic Initial D. Both of these two factors showcased how on right circumstances the simplistic coupe that joe everyman could easily gain access to could bring down monstrous performance cars in real world conditions. To be more specific, downhill races held on many mountain passes.
I’m still happy to this day to say i was there at Le-Mans 1995/96 when the Japanese brought there JGTC cars (Supra’s & Skyline R33) to La-Sarthe. i got to stand nextto them on the pre race grid in 95, going up against the Mac F1′s and Ferrari F40′s was a bold move by Toyota & Nissan.
On these conditions, power and grip dont matter as much as balance, poise and driving prowess. One two many David vs Goliath scenarios were witnessed and with fabled 11,000 rpm N1 spec TRD engines only added to the hype. A simple god-honest car that in the right hands made mincemeat out of so called specialist cars, the AE86 was the true blue blooded passion lovechild of Toyota. N the gen that grew up fantasizing the AE86, nw hav the buying power to get behind the wheel of the FT86… Nuf sed..
@ruffneck119 in the past 10 years yes i agree with that but in the late 80 and through the 90′s they had some amazing cars but they wern’t selling millions of those cars so they stopped making them
I have a problem with Toyota Racing Development putting there logo on there cars. My Scion tc had many TRD parts. but everytime i went anywhere, people kept asking… What’s the TuRD stand for dude?
ARRRRGGHHH!! come up with a new logo ass holes

HAHA, “overpriced tribute to bad F1 memories.”
toyota is becoming the new Cadillac so hopefully they bring the f86
Toyota sucks Nissan is the only good car company from japan. Nissan makes the best Japanese sports cars.
I hate Toyota with a passion. So boring… in fact the most boring.

Damm if you wanted to do a paper you on toyota its all here
Toyota has completely neglected their sports car fan base, for that I would never own a Toyota. But I can’t wait to see the FT-86 in my rearview.
We’ve never seen any Outtakes of Leo. Does he even make mistakes? The way I see is he comes in makes his point fast and leaves again.
i still dont see whats great about toyota
3 days without any FLD on youtube, is there a better place or more reliable place to watch FLD?
