According to Dr. Green, science is finding that the media is actually on the wrong side of the issue. In fact, Green says that not only do condoms not work, but that they may be “exacerbating the problem” in Africa.
Dr. Green found that part of the elusive reason is a phenomenon known as Risk Compensation or Behavioral Disinhibition.

@hotheadedjoelhaha Yes, it is a fact that if people would just behave differently, the spread of HIV would stop. And people have changed their behavior. For instance, condom use has gone way up since the 80s. But that *isn’t* all there is to it, and unless you want extremely intrusive laws to force people to behave differently, it won’t be enough. Science will continue to study the problem and come up with new solutions.

@abu3333 Actually, there is. The virus is known to be endemic to certain types of monkeys. It is also a disease that great apes do not get through any normal means. Chimps for research had to be injected with very high amounts of the virus before it would take. Even then, they didn’t respond to experimental drugs the same way humans do. This would also make it nearly impossible for people to know it could kill humans. Explain how someone could do that before scientists mapped the human genome.

The government together with WHO created it to prevent over population in Africa, the same way the made it a law in china that you can’t more that one child. They traveled to Africa and gave the people vaccines that contained the hiv virus.
