Phoenix News: Thousands Gathered For The Celebration Of The Virgin Of Guadalupe In Phoenix Area

PHOENIX- The largest Catholic feast of the year in the Phoenix area to the enthusiastic crowd of 20,000 Jobing.com Arena on Saturday afternoon.
A number of international artists such as Alexander Acha, Irish singer Dana and Filippa Giordano inspired the musical with the public attributes of the Virgin of Guadeloupe.
Speakers included the actor, Eduardo Verástegui, Bishop Thomas Olmsted and the Supreme Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Carl Anderson, who said much to the crowd: “We believe that Hispanics in the church under the legendary Phoenix. Nearly 500 years after those we love Lady of Guadalupe transformation of the hemisphere, Latin American brothers and sisters, the revival of Catholicism in the United States.”
He added: “Our Lady of Guadalupe points to his son, but also our unity in his son, and for Catholics, this unit should be at the borders.”
In addition to performances and speeches, the participants also prayed the rosary – a prayer to the Virgin Mary – in different languages.
The festival was the only fragment of the TILMA – or coat – on which the image of Our Lady Guadalupe miraculously appeared in 1531.
Saint is in the Cathedral of St. Simon and Jude in Phoenix today, Sunday 9 August 2009, with thousands coming to worship, the most important relic of the country. It was presented Sunday at the cathedral until 3:00 pm. Media are invited to cover the visit of the relic.
