Cops here are notoriously violent and corrupt. As to why, it is due in part to the influence of our historical Wstrn Expansion which created the archetype of the rugged, macho, often violent frontiersman; and in part due to the significant dumbing-down of Americans over the years, promoted by big business and corrupt govt.
