30 UK Police vs man armed with machete in the street.
Angry man armed with machete is taken down eventually after taunting police by over 30 police officers with riot shields. According to the story he’d been CS gassed (pepper spray) and was still going strong. Seems a little over kill to me. Then again this isn’t America where they’d just open fire on him. @TheXand19 The have just as much desire to lose a hand as you. They are protecting civilians. He is cornered. Away from innocent people to hurt. They trapped him to PROTECT people. They try the spray… fail. They hit him with the battons… as you see in the vid… he doesnt care. What else can you do? Do you really expect the police to lose HANDS for you?! They trap him and wait for the right tool (shields) to do the job.
I live in San Francisco, a city stereotyped a being overly liberal and mollycuddling.
Yet if that happened here, like most American cities, the perpetrator would’ve been shot dead on arrival.

@TheCherubeal I would epxect 30 odd police wankers to do more than stand around looking pretty for half an hour while a man with a machete runs around goung schizo. Lovely to see the law being uphel by such *fine* and *brave* upstanding citizens though, I feel so much reassured knowing my taxpayer’s money is being spent on such an oppressive and brave police force!

He didn’t even have a gun himself! He’s just a nutter with a machete, there’s no need to shoot him! Pepper spray works on anyone if you get close enough, as does a taser and pretty much everything they use that is for stunning but not killing.
Heck if worse comes to bloody worse they can call in armed squads or riot shield equipment.
You guys need to arm your police officers. This is just silly. At least use taser guns on the guy. I wonder how many British police have lost there life fighting bad guys due to not being armed with guns
@rmhaas not many at all…erm zero this year i think, havent heard about any on the news anyway…much much less than in the U.S where police carry guns..guns are not the answer obviously.
If that were to happen in the U.S that guy with the machete would be taking a dirt nap.
@rmhaas Not many because for serious cases we call in the Armed Response units/ dog units. But yeah, I’m surprised they didn’t just tase him, they probably did in the end, or perhaps Armed Response were en route!
